UNCCD COP17

The SFA participated in the UN Convention to Combat Desertification COP17 in August 2026 with an ambitious two-week programme of events and activities. The global conference focused on tackling land degradation, desertification, and drought, and brought together governments, scientists, businesses and civil society. A key message emerged from the SFA's activities: healthy landscapes, healthy livestock and resilient pastoralist communities are interconnected.

NATURAL FIBRE CONNECT (NFC)

The SFA is a co-host of the annual NFC Conference, collaborating with partners in the alpaca, cashmere, mohair and wool industries. Together, our mission is to amplify herders' voices and build consensus around the shared challenges facing the natural fibre sector. The next NFC Conference is set to take place in South Africa in April 2027.
