Smita is a Subject Matter Expert in the Fibres & Materials Competence Centre of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme. She is responsible for developing the Fibres and Circularity Strategy and creating and updating industry guidelines for various fibres and materials. She supports ZDHC’s collaborative efforts while also researching innovations in new, sustainable fibres and recycled materials. She is involved in developing training materials and ZDHC digital tools related to sustainable fibres and circular economy. Smita completed her Doctorate degree in Fibres and Textile Processing Technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology, India. She has over 13 years of work experience with the Wool Research Association (WRA), India, where she designed and managed R&D projects sponsored by various government agencies in the field of advanced textile processing technology, effluent treatment processes, CCM technology etc. Smita has experience in eco-testing and was the Internal Auditor at WRA. She is based in Mumbai, India.
