Head of Standards
Having joined the SFA in May 2023, David brings with him a strong belief that we cannot protect nature without first understanding and meeting the needs of the people whose lives are tied to the natural world. From a PhD in Human Impacts Ecology to professional experience in changing behaviours, he has forged his career on “getting more people there sooner” when it comes to environmental issues. On his journey, David has developed a comprehensive understanding of voluntary sustainability standards systems and creating multi-stakeholder initiatives that work for everyone involved. In his position of Head of Standards at the SFA, David ensures that our standards system is efficient, elegant and achieves real-world impact at the pace and scale demanded by the situation – and is always looking for new ways to make that happen.
