Training for SFA Member Processors Successfully Held

On 6th March 2026, the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) organised a training session for its member processors at its office in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Representatives from SFA Member organisations, including Khanbogd Cashmere, Nomgon Cashmere, Monital Cashmere, Gobi Aigar, Jin Corona, Urnukh Golomt, Goyol Cashmere, and Top Shine, participated in the training. They received information and exchanged views on the implementation of the SFA standards, sustainable production practices, and ways to improve supply chain transparency.

To begin, general information was provided on the activities of the SFA, focusing on the programmes and standards implemented in collaboration with SFA Member organisations. This highlighted the importance of participation and cooperation from processing industries in supporting the sustainable development of the sector.

Participants were introduced to the key requirements, objectives, scope, and core principles of the SFA Animal Fibre Standard (AFS) applied in livestock production by herders and cooperatives. This session also helped newly joined processors gain a clearer understanding of the standard.

Mr Z. Uuganbayar, Director of the Primary Processing Plant at Khanbogd Cashmere, shared his experience in using renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions. He presented opportunities for reducing production costs and minimising environmental impact.

In addition, participants were introduced to the requirements and implementation of the SFA Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard, which plays a crucial role in ensuring supply chain transparency and traceability, as well as verifying product origin. Detailed information was provided on the process of recording and verifying data from raw materials through to the final product. As part of this, processors received practical guidance on entering information, maintaining records, and reporting through the soon-to-be-launched SFA Threads traceability platform, helping them gain a better understanding of how to use the system.

At the end of the training, a question-and-answer discussion was held among the participants, where views were exchanged on the implementation of the standards system, issues encountered during the practical implementation of the data registrations and tracking system, and future cooperation.

All trainings and events organised by the SFA are open to SFA Members, Chain of Custody Participants, and other industry stakeholders. If you would like to learn more about the SFA standards and programmes, please visit the SFA Training Sessions section of the website.
